Our History

breadsIn a reversal of importance, Effie’s Bakery was developed out of the Effie’s Catering service division through its popularity in the mid 1980’s. The catering service started as a first class African Restaurant and was called Akosombo Restaurant at Alexandria. Our menu was about, "a mile long." Being an international catering service, the menu included dishes from Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and from the rest of the other West African countries. We served menus from European to Continental dishes. The rest of the menus came from the Caribbean and other Latin America dishes.
